For over 16 years, the Christmas Tree Walk has been the official kick off of the holiday season in Maplewood. With caroling, led by costumed characters; the arrival of Santa Claus; and the grand lighting of the Maplewood Christmas Tree; the event is reminiscent of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol! The event features carriage rides, merchant open houses, live entertainment, and holiday cheer throughout the City.
Most importantly, the streets will be filled with visitors eager to shop, dine, and support small businesses.
All Maplewood businesses are eligible to participate in the event.
Benefits of participation include:
Program and Event Website Listing– Business name, address, website, and any holiday offers will be printed in the event program that will be distributed to visitors. Business information will also be listed on the event webpage, in the press release and other media materials.
Window Decorating Contest– Businesses will be part of our Annual Maplewood Window Decorating Contest in which we award First, Second, and Third Place.
Wooden Christmas Tree– Businesses will receive a wooden tree that can be placed just outside their storefront to clearly identify their participation in the event. Wooden tree may be kept through the end of December.
Special permission for sidewalk sales– Weather permitting, registered vendors are authorized to have a sidewalk sale and/or sell food and drinks from the street on the evening of the Walk.
Event Postcards and Flyers– Participants will receive postcards to hand out to customers prior to the Walk, and a flyer to hang in storefront window.
Register by November 2nd to receive an early registration discount. Final day to register is November 14th..
