Pet Mayor

The Mid County Pet Mayor serves as an ambassador of goodwill for Maplewood & Richmond Heights for a period of one year. Any and all pets are welcome to run for this prestigious honor- dogs, cats, pigs, birds, goldfish, etc.

Pet Mayor Responsibilities

Make occasional public appearances throughout the year, especially at events that promote small and locally owned businesses.

Ideal Qualities of a Pet Mayor

Generally speaking, our ideal Pet Mayor will…
-Be an upstanding and respectable pet in the community
-Represent their constituents equally regardless of breed, species, and/or known tricks
-Be a fierce advocate for small businesses
-Have a good temperament (as should their human spokesperson(s))
-Be agreeable to having his/her photo taken and released by the Chamber
-Have high ethical character and not susceptible to bribes, especially in treat form

Much like Unlike human elections, the Pet Mayor election can and will be bought!  All proceeds benefit the Mid County Chamber of Commerce.

Pet Eligibility

Eligible nominees must meet one of the following criteria:
Resident of Maplewood or
Resident of Richmond Heights or
*Sponsored by a Chamber Member Business- Each business may sponsor up to two pets. Who is a Member of the Chamber?

*If nominated pet does not live in Maplewood or Richmond Heights, they can be sponsored by a Chamber Member business. The human spokesperson (pet owner) must obtain permission from the member business before submitting a nomination. All submissions will be verified with the member business by a Chamber Staff member. Reminder- Not all local businesses are Chamber Members. Use the online business directory to verify which business is a member of the Chamber. No refunds will be offered for submissions found to be ineligible.

TOP DOG ($800) – Premier alignment with the Chamber and election with top tier logo placement in all event materials: printed, online, voting platform, and sponsored social media posts. Top Dog Sponsors receive a complimentary pet nomination and can participate in the collaring ceremony.

LEADER OF THE PACK ($400) – Strong alignment with the Chamber and election event with logo placement in event materials; printed, online, and onsite.
