Pet Mayor of Mid County
Term Expiration- September 2023
The Mid County Pet Mayor will serve as an ambassador of goodwill for Maplewood & Richmond Heights for a period of one year.
Any and all pets are welcome to run for this prestigious honor- dogs, cats, pigs, birds, goldfish, etc.
Pet Mayor Responsibilities
Make occasional public appearances throughout the year, especially at events that promote small and locally owned businesses.
Ideal Qualities of a Pet Mayor
Generally speaking, our ideal Pet Mayor will…
-Be an upstanding and respectable pet in the community
-Represent their constituents equally regardless of breed, species, and/or known tricks
-Be a fierce advocate for small businesses
-Have a good temperament (as should their human spokesperson(s))
-Be agreeable to having his/her photo taken and released by the Chamber
-Have high ethical character and not susceptible to bribes, especially in treat form
Pet Eligibility
Eligible nominees must meet one of the following criteria:
Resident of Maplewood or
Resident of Richmond Heights or
*Sponsored by a Chamber Member Business- Each business may sponsor up to two pets. Who is a Member of the Chamber?
*If a nominated pet does not live in Maplewood or Richmond Heights, they can be sponsored by a Chamber Member business. The human spokesperson (pet owner) must obtain permission from the member business before submitting a nomination. All submissions will be verified with the member business by a Chamber Staff member. Reminder- Not all local businesses are Chamber Members. Use the online business directory to verify which business is a member of the Chamber. No refunds will be offered for submissions found to be ineligible.

NOMINATIONS– August 1-18th
MEET THE CANDIDATE NIGHT Optional for Nominees– August 23 (*see voting info below)
VOTING Primaries August 23- September 14
VOTING Finals– September 18-22
INAUGURATION COLLARING CEREMONY- September 27
2023 NOMINATING & VOTING INFORMATION
Online Nominations– $25 per nomination- August 1-18th
Online Voting– $10 per vote August 23-September 14th
Cash Voting– Any Denomination on Meet the Candidate Night ONLY August 23rd
NEW THIS YEAR- MEET THE CANDIDATE NIGHT
Pet Mayor nominees will have an opportunity to shake paws and accept bribes on August 23rd, from 6:00 -7:00 p.m. at Ryan Hummert Park. This is completely optional for Pet Mayor nominees. The event will coincide with the Concert Series. On this night only, cash vote donations (in any denomination) will be accepted. Cash votes will be added to online paid votes for Pet Mayor nominees. Nominees do not need to be present to receive cash votes.
